Pulwama Police Seize Heroin Worth Lakhs, One Arrested

Pulwama, January 7, 2026:

In a major success against the drug menace, Pulwama Police on January 5, 2026, intercepted a truck during naka checking at Litter, leading to the recovery of a substantial quantity of heroin-like substance valued at lakhs in the international market.

During the operation, a truck bearing registration number JK22B-3175 was stopped and searched, resulting in the recovery of 263 grams of heroin-like substance.

SHABD reported that the driver of the vehicle, identified as Ather Maqbool Ganie, son of Moqbool Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Waghama, Bijbehara, was apprehended on the spot.

The truck involved in the offence was seized, and a case FIR No. 03/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned police station. Investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and destination of the contraband and to identify other persons involved in the crime.

Pulwama Police reiterated its firm resolve to eliminate the drug menace and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information to help keep society drug-free.
