Situation Under Control In Chirang; 22 Arrested

Runikhata, April 20, 2026:
The situation in Assam’s Chirang district has been brought under control following the attack of the Runikhata Forest Range Office by miscreants, according to BTC Inspector General of Police Vivek Raj Singh.
He stated that efforts are underway to restore normal life in the area. So far, 22 individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident. The arrests were made based on photographic and video evidence.
The IGP further informed that action is being taken against those leaders and individuals who were involved in instigating the violence. He assured that the Forest Department will take necessary steps to protect forest areas, while the police will carry out their responsibilities accordingly.
He also urged that those not involved in the incident have no reason to fear.
Meanwhile, the Chirang district administration has announced that internet services in Chirang and Kokrajhar districts will be restored shortly.
