Smuggled Firecrackers Worth Rs. 5 Crore Seized in Mumbai; One Arrested
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 30,000 Chinese-origin firecrackers worth Rs. 5 crore from a 40-foot container at Mundra port, Mumbai.
The shipment was , falsely declared as “water glass set” and “flower receptacle,” was seized on November 15, 2025 as the importer lacked valid licenses and admitted to smuggling for monetary gain, said DRI.
It added that the mastermind-cum-financier of the transaction has been arrested.
This bust is part of the ongoing “Fire Trail” operation targeting illegal firecracker imports, following similar seizures at Mumbai and Tuticorin in October.
